NCSSD Announces Partnership With Ready, Set, Safe!
NCSSD has partnered with Ready, Set, Safe! to help schools, families, and communities identify hazards and take a more proactive approach to keeping children safe.
The National Council of School Safety Directors (NCSSD), a professional community for school safety and security leaders, has announced a new partnership with Ready, Set, Safe!, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering adults with the awareness, resources, and practical guidance needed to protect children wherever they learn and play.
Ready, Set, Safe! was founded following the preventable death of the founders’ son, Alex, a first-grader who was fatally injured when a large, unsecured chain-link gate fell on him during recess.
While the organization’s work began with a focus on gate safety, it has since expanded to address a wider range of hazards in the places where children learn and play. Ready, Set, Safe! works to help families, educators, school leaders, and communities develop a proactive safety mindset by giving them the information and resources needed to ask the right questions, identify potential hazards, and prevent injuries before they occur.
The organization also offers a collection of resources and tools related to school safety assessments, facility and playground safety, gate safety, hazard awareness, and injury prevention.
The partnership reflects a shared belief that safer schools require more than a single program, policy, or perspective. They require collaboration among school safety professionals, educators, families, community leaders, industry partners, and advocates.
Through the collaboration, NCSSD and Ready, Set, Safe! will work to elevate conversations around proactive assessment, hazard awareness, and the collective responsibility to create safer learning environments.
