Submit a Topic Proposal

School safety leaders and practitioners often develop valuable knowledge through real-world experience — lessons learned, effective practices, challenges encountered, and creative solutions that others can benefit from.

NCSSD welcomes practical, educational, and vendor-neutral contributions from school safety leaders and professionals working across school safety, security, emergency management, and related fields.

You do not need to be a professional writer to contribute. Strong ideas and practical experience are more important than polished drafts.

What we're looking for

We welcome a variety of content types and perspectives, including:

  • Leadership insights and lessons learned
  • Best practices and practical strategies
  • Case studies and real-world examples
  • Policies and procedures
  • Emergency preparedness and response topics
  • Physical security and access control
  • Behavioral threat assessment
  • Training and drills
  • Technology and emerging trends
  • Research summaries and key takeaways
  • Checklists, tools, templates, and other resources

Contributor guidelines

To help ensure content remains useful and relevant to the school safety community, contributions should be:

  • Practical and educational
  • Vendor-neutral
  • Original work
  • Non-promotional
  • Focused on actionable takeaways when possible

All submissions are reviewed by NCSSD and may be edited for clarity, style, and audience fit. Submitting a proposal does not guarantee publication, but we review all submissions and appreciate your interest in contributing.
