NCSSD Member Spotlight: Danielle Stevens

Safety Director — Lake Zurich School District

School safety is not a job for the faint of heart. It requires vigilance, empathy, deep institutional knowledge, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure. Danielle Stevens, Safety Director for the Lake Zurich School District in Illinois, brings all of that and more to her work every single day.

As Safety Director, Danielle is responsible for the safety and security of students, staff, and facilities across the district — a role that touches everything from emergency planning and threat assessment to staff training and community partnerships. It is work that happens largely behind the scenes, but its impact is felt in every hallway, every classroom, and every school event where students and families feel safe and supported.

Danielle is exactly the kind of professional the NCSSD community was built for — and built by. Her commitment to continuous learning, peer collaboration, and elevating the standard of school safety practice makes her an invaluable member of this network.

"School safety is about more than preventing bad things from happening," she reflects. "It's about creating an environment where every student can learn and thrive without fear."

We are proud to have Danielle Stevens as part of the NCSSD community and grateful for the dedication she brings to the Lake Zurich School District each and every day.
